Just wondering, if anyone here knows anything about a XSI-addon to connect to nVidia's Gelato Renderer. A long time ago it seemed mr. Daniel Rind was working on such a product, but alas there has been no news for quite a while now. Will there ever be such an addon and if so when can we expect it?

Last siggraph, Gelato was mentioned as one of the renderers coming to XSI... Haven't heard anything since...

gelato's pro version was recently made freely available...

"...Gelato Pro 2.2 will be the final version of NVIDIA Gelato rendering software. Moving forward, the NVIDIA Gelato and mental images rendering teams will focus on the development of mental ray software, reinforcing NVIDIA’s investment and commitment to advanced accelerated rendering..."
no need to support gelato as a rendering option in xsi if it isn't going to be developed anymore.

Developing of the gellato was stopped becouse it was competitive product to mental ray. So make your conclusion yourself. ;) Hope we will see some official statement soon.

Have no idea the real reason, but I'm seeing it otherwise. It's stopped because after that long time development, it's anywhere but competitive. (Raff The Jaco talked briefly about it in this forum). Besides, I think it's a product that was initially made to compete with Renderman compliants, so I can't see it kills mr or vice versa.
