Here is my first Arch/Viz test in XSI, it took me a while to get the hang of mental ray (after being spoilt by Vray) but I must admit that mentall ray is a ROBUST renderer, it just needs patience when one is learning it. I still have some sampling issues to sort out but I think I will dumping Max completely now!

Great effort, especially for a first attempt!

Phil

PS. You may want to get on the VRay for XSI beta program.

Looks great, especially the lighting! My single criticism goes to the AO which seems to be a little overdone, or... hey... people just don't always clean their houses thoroughly enough! ;)

Nice rendering! Agree about the AO.. But again for a first try it is more than good (you should see my first try ... lol)

You need to boost aliasing setting. )
It quickly catches my attention particularly the edge of the ceiling.
Aliasing level: 0 - 2 | contrast: 0.1 | Mitchell - size 4 could effectively remove those.
There are also very subtle blotches, also on the ceiling. You need to set FG samples a bit higher.

cheers
